Impact on daily life

Special needs education… that includes deaf children … is not funded properly.
Many children are not getting the support that they need.  There is a gap in the funding of £643 million and 90% of local authorities last year had to spend more than in their budget – they had to take the money from other services.  Government says they are giving more money to schools but the Special Education groups say this is not enough.  From next year, the local authorities will not be allowed to take money from other services.  Mainstream schools may start to refuse to take deaf children and others because they do not have the funding to support them.
The air force planes will bring in the supplies of the vaccine if there are problems at the ports because of Brexit.  The first supplies arrived through the Eurotunnel last week … they hope the next load will come before the end of the year.
Student strikes are spreading.  One thousand students in Bristol are not paying the University for their rent because they say they have not had the full university experience due to quarantine and there are no live lectures.    One university offered a 30% reduction.  But more university students in Cambridge, Sussex, Oxford are refusing to pay.  The strike is growing.
We know that many people are not getting their operations in hospital.  The waiting list is getting longer and longer due to Covid.  It is also true that courts have a huge waiting list now.  Over 220 thousand cases are stuck in a jam as courts have not been able to work properly during lockdowns.  This means that prisoners have to wait longer and witnesses may have to be protected for longer.
