Impact on daily life

Impact. 7th October
More than 80 universities have reported at least 5,000 virus cases in total.
Now more say there is no onsite face to face teaching. Manchester universities have only online teaching now – same for Sheffield university.  Aberdeen has 122 cases, Exeter has 300 cases, Birmingham has 300 cases.  Students in Manchester tried to organise a party where you could only get in if you already had the virus.  We have to ask why universities were allowed to open when all this was expected and the universities were not prepared.
Scotland will announce new restrictions today.  They thought they were beating the virus in June but now the numbers have gone up and up.  They expect to reduce pub opening times.  They will also announce what is happening about school exams for next year … to try to avoid the chaos that happened this year.
Buying a new house?  House prices are still going up.  But up to now the builders had to provide “affordable” homes next to the main developments.  This meant that people with lower income could get houses in quite nice areas.  Now the conservatives are changing the rules and so the builders do not have to provide the cheaper homes.
UK leisure centres and swimming pools are likely close this winter.  if Government restrictions go ahead.  There is also a ban on school trips where they have to stay overnight.  People say that these camps could go bust and 15,000 jobs are at risk.
