Impact on daily life

Impact. 11th December
Secondary school pupils in parts of London, in Kent and Essex have to get testing for Covid.
The Health Secretary says there has been a big rise among 11 to 18 year olds.  He says they should not wait until the Tiers are changed next week.  It is urgent now.
The Canary Islands are now on the quarantine list.  Anyone coming back from a holiday there from Saturday will have to self isolate for 2 weeks.
In Wales from next Monday, all secondary schools and further education colleges will be online teaching.  It is not a holiday … they have to stay at home and follow their school lessons online.  There are more than 370 cases per 100 thousand and hospitals may not cope.  In Blaenau Gwent, they closed schools on Wednesday as the rate was over 600 in the area.  The situation is much worse in South Wales.
Jaguar Land Rover have stopped production at their car factory in the Midlands because of a covid issue affecting the supplies to the factory.  They did not give details but the factory is closed for at least 2 weeks.
Lorry jam already at Dover.  Thousands of lorries are already parked waiting to cross the channel.  Not only at the port but also a queue along the motorway.  Looks like they are trying to beat the deadline of end of December when Britain is out of the EU.  One wine company complained that they could not get the wine they had ordered across the channel now.  From January prices will go up by at least 20p a bottle.
