Impact on daily life

Impact 1st July
Leicester in lockdown but they still do not have the detailed information on cases.  There are tests in hospitals and care homes and the figures were OK.  But there were also tests at home and in the drive-in centres and Leicester council were not told about these. So they were surprised to find out that there was an increase. This system is the same across England.  The local health care and local councils do not know the exact information of where, and who, and how old and what ethnic group.  They cannot deal with the cases.
Hospitals in London have been told to prepare for a bad weekend because the pubs are supposed to open and so it will be party time.  Too much alcohol causes accidents and injuries.
New report says that Black and minority ethnic people (BAME) now more likely to be in poverty and more likely to lose their jobs than white English.  Nearly half of BAME households were in poverty.  This is getting worse with lockdown and effect of the virus.
From Saturday, scooters will be available for rent in a number of cities in the UK to help people get around.  These are electric scooters and can go at 15 miles per hour.  You should wear a helmet as they have to travel on the road, not the pavement.  This is all good news to reduce pollution.  It is bad news for blind people and even for deaf people. Why?  Because these e-scooters are almost silent.  No warning if one comes behind you.
