More on students. Yesterday there was a story that students would have to stay at university over Christmas as they needed 2 weeks of quarantine. Now there is a plan to change the term time and complete the quarantine in the last two weeks of term so that the students who do not the virus could go home for Christmas with families. It just gets more complicated.
One in every six school have had the virus. They have sent pupils home because someone has tested positive. The numbers are increasing each week. Schools organisations say there is not enough access to tests. Schools are expected to provide home learning immediately for any pupil who has to self-isolate.
Care homes are struggling. Official figures from Public Health England do not show up the problem but care homes are saying that the virus is back in the homes. One large care home provider says they have the virus in 70 (out of their 300 homes). Similar findings from Bupa and from Care UK. It looks like not all the cases are being recorded in the official figures.
Have you stayed in an Airbnb accommodation? Easy to rent and stay in someone’s home. Airbnb now have to pay £1.8 million extra on tax after the tax people examined the accounts. They have also to help the tax people with information on the “hosts” (the people who rent you their rooms) because they think that not all the income is being reported.
