Impact on daily life

Impact 9th July
The amount spent on corona virus in the UK has now gone up to £190 billion.  That is about £3 thousand for each person in the UK.
There is a scandal now about gymnastics in the UK.  athletes are coming out now to complain about physical and emotional abuse.. for children as young as 8 years old right up to the Olympic medal winners.  There will be a big investigation.
Scotland is easing lockdown but there is still quarantine for 14 days if you come from Spain.  The rate of infections in Spain is 10 times the rate in Scotland.  Travellers from Spain to England will not have quarantine.
Tips about masks – compulsory in shops in Scotland and on buses/trains in UK.  Yes, deaf people should wear a mask because it is to prevent you giving the virus to other people.  The mask catches the droplets from your breath.  And if other people wear a mask it means you do not catch the virus from them.  BUT obvious, the big problem is you can’t lip read them if they are trying to communicate with you.  Solutions are to have some see-through material but a company has to make them and then all the hearing people have to be persuaded to wear them.  Bad enough, most of the time asking hearing people to look at you when talking.  We are back to the old days of asking people to write down … until we get better masks.
One tip about masks – people complain their glasses steam up. Tricky.  Try putting glasses in soapy water and then let them dry by themselves.  That puts a layer of anti-fog on the glass.
