Impact on daily life

Impact 8th September
A survey of countries in the world published by the New European newspaper says that the UK is rated the worst at dealing with the coronavirus.  Boris said we had a world beating test and trace system but the people who replied to the survey say it is not world beating.  The rating for Taiwan and Australia are over +70 in the scale and the UK is Minus 15.  People just rate the Government as incompetent. The USA is close to the worst on minus 12.
When you add up all the job losses in June and July in the UK, it comes to over 300 thousand.  That is happening when there is the furlough.  When that stops in October, people say there will be a lot more people out of work.
Brexit again … well, it will be a big topic from now on.  Boris says a “no deal” would be OK for the UK.  Businesses are horrified as they know the UK is not ready for this.  The Government now says they are going to change the treaty they signed – the withdrawal agreement.  But that is a legal international document.  Not surprisingly, the EU thinks this a big break in trust and if the UK wants to do this, then there is no point to have more Brexit discussion.  If the UK breaks the terms of the withdrawal agreement they can be sued by the EU and if the case goes to court there would be serious problems for the UK.
