Impact on daily life

Impact 1st December
Health and care workers will receive £500 from the Scottish Government to say thank you
for all of their work in the last few months.  Staff who are part time will receive the proportion according to how many hours they work.  There will also be a payment of £100 to families who are in need, so that they can afford food for Christmas. The money should arrive before Christmas.  Scotland asks the Government – “please do not tax this £100”.
Health minister says the virus cases have dropped during the lockdown.  He says covid is under control.  But he uses obscure language … People in Tier 3 can “ ….have some greater freedoms – but we don’t have much headroom.”  He means we have to be careful not to start mixing and having parties because it could get worse again before Christmas.  No wonder BSL interpreters have difficulty in following.
Pubs in Tier 2 can only serve drinks if it is with a substantial meal.  So what is a substantial meal?  Not a Cornish Pasty .. unless it is with chips.  Not a pizza, but then later they said it is allowed.  Now the Government says it can be a Scotch Egg – that would be a big enough meal .. as long as it was brought to the table.  It is usually a starter …. Oh dear … it all seems silly.
Bristol City fan?  You can’t watch a game at the moment but you will soon be able to have a vaccine there.  The soldiers have moved into the Ashton Gate stadium to set up a vaccine centre.  This is supposed to give vaccine to 100 thousand people a week as soon as they can get approval for the Oxford vaccine.  Not just for Bristol but for the areas around which are in Tier 3.
