Impact on daily life

Impact 8th October
A study which looked at tests on people – 36 thousand people – said that 86% of people who had the virus between April and June did not have the clear symptoms of the virus – even though they were tested positive.  They did not have a cough or fever or loss of taste and smell.  They call this “silent transmission” as people do not know they have the virus but are able to pass it on to other people.  This is a big problem – obviously.
Over 14 thousand new cases on Wednesday in UK.  There have been over 500 thousand cases and over 40 thousand deaths from the virus in the UK so far.
Exeter University has suspended some students and sent then home because they broke the covid rules.  Other universities are fining student if they have illegal parties.  But the students union says these fines are unfair.
Are you allowed to go on holiday in the UK at school half term?  If you are living in an area which is not in lockdown, then yes, you can take a holiday in the UK.  You can meet with other people as long as you are socially distanced.  You can only travel in a group of 6 maximum.  If you want to go to an area which has a lockdown, then you can rent a cottage but can only be with people from your own household (the people you live with) or support bubble.  You should not be sharing with people who you do not live with.  If you live in an area of lockdown, you can have a holiday but must not mix with people from outside your household.
