Impact on daily life

UK. 17th March
Covid Update:  Tuesday, in Scotland, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon announced the plans for the end of lockdown.  She hopes for normal life by end of June.    Hairdressers open on 5th April; Schools are fully open by middle of April; Gyms and non-essential shops on 26th April.    Pubs and restaurants open on 26th April but no alcohol indoors.  You can go to Scotland by 26th April, but international travel will be after 17th May.
In UK, there are nearly 126 thousand deaths from covid.  Families of people who died want to have a public inquiry to find out about the Government.  They think many deaths happened because the Government made the wrong decisions or made long delays.  Doctors and scientists now support the families.  They want to know how come UK has the worst number of deaths in the world (if you look at the numbers of people who live in the UK).  They say we need to find out now before another pandemic happens.  PM Boris said he would but will not start an inquiry just now.
To help women, Government wants to have plain clothes police in nightclubs or to have police standing around bars.  Organisations which campaign for women, say this is crazy – just takes away attention from what women complain about.  They say Sarah was just walking home – not from a bar and not from a night club. They are angry about the way that police arrested women who came to the vigil for Sarah.
Prince Philip has gone home.  He had one month in hospital.  He had a mystery infection.  Luckily, they sent a car from Buckingham Palace to collect him.  The buses in London are not so good at this time.
