Delay in review of social distancing – bad news for indoor spaces

There are four steps in the plan to finish with lockdown.  On 17th may, we were on step 3.  You can meet people and hug, go indoors and pubs and restaurants are open.  Scientist are not happy and they want to delay the social distancing reviews.  They say it may not be possible to open up everything by 21st June.  The Health Secretary says we have to remember covid can appear in different places for a long time.
Ambulance breakthrough use of i-pads
At an accident, the ambulance crew can use their ipad to take a picture of the injury.  They can send it to the hospital so that the hospital can be ready to operate or help the person before the ambulance arrives.  Great idea.  But Deaf Studies Trust demonstrated how to do all of this more than 10 years ago for use by the police and fire service.  It was possible to call an interpreter right away and for the 999 service to see the video of what was happening at the accident.  The Government had no money to support this service – it would be very useful for deaf people.
Ofqual says teachers are biased towards girls
This year there are no GCSE or A-levels.  The job of OfQual is to look after the examinations.  This year the teachers have to make their own assessment in class.  OfQual looked at research.  They found out that teachers give girls higher grades than boys, and give lower grades to pupils from poor families and to pupils who have special needs.  We are not sure if this means that they mark down deaf pupils.
