Impact on daily life

UK 16th March
On Tuesday, Ofcom set up a new consultation for video relay for 999.
There is a video in BSL to explain.  We will put the link on deafstation or just google “video relay for 999”.  Anyone can contact Ofcom to give their views on the plans to make it easy for deaf people to call 999 using BSL.  Closing date is 30th March.
On Monday, there was another big gathering of women in Central London near Parliament.  They came to remember Sarah, the woman who was taken and murdered when walking on Clapham Common.  They are protesting about the attacks on women.  Another gathering of women was in Leeds.  They say they want to “be safe to walk at night”.
Oh no!  Thorntons chocolate shops will be closing down.  That is, 61 shops and 600 jobs to go.  Phew! They say you can still buy their chocolates in the supermarket.
Hope United Church in Motherwell broke the covid rules – they broadcast their service on the Internet.  OK but they had people playing guitars and also people not keeping their distance.  The police have given warnings. Police went to a park in Hastings.  You know why?  There were 40 people in circle doing the hokey-cokey (where you “put your left arm in, left arm out …”)  Trouble is they were all holding hands and that broke the rules.  The police did not arrest anyone ..  just gave out warnings .. stop dancing!
