The Public Health Director (she advises the Government) says UK has to prepare for a bad winter. She says there may be big increases in flu and other breathing illnesses. Another expert, the head of the Oxford vaccine team says that going back to school will lead to a rise in infections. She is worried if people just think they are fine and do not take a vaccine. Most important, she says the UK will not beat Covid, unless the whole world has. She means that as long as there are some places with Covid, new versions will develop and spread.
A mental health nurse was fined £10 thousand. She organised a protest in Manchester on Sunday. Forty people turned up to show they object to the 1% pay rise. Police said – it doesn’t matter, they were not at social distance. They said she broke the rules. PM Boris is pending £200 thousand on his flat at Downing Street. He complains he has no money – He is paid £157 thousand a year as Prime Minister and gets free accommodation, food and a car with a driver.
Students get Zoom but University leaders get pay rises. Average pay for vice-chancellors in top Universities in the UK is £324 thousand a year. To be fair, some took a pay cut during the pandemic. That reduced some wages to only £250 thousand. More than 270 thousand students signed a petition – they want refunds of their fees.
The Government says if pupil have a positive covid test in school, they have to go home and be isolated with the family. Experts say the test in school will have many wrong results. Government says it does not matter if the pupils get a full test which is negative, they have to stay at home.
