Dominic Cummings gives serious answers to the committee in Parliament
He was the chief adviser to PM Boris. He worked in Downing Street. He was involved in a lot of the discussions about covid.
On Wednesday, he gave evidence for 7 hours. Here are some of the claims he made to the committee:
PM Boris said Covid was a “scare story”. And Boris would go on TV and have an “injection of the covid virus to show it was not a problem.”
The Health Minister Hancock, told lies and should have been sacked. Hancock said people were tested before going from hospital to care homes – they were not. Hancock claimed there was a shield around the care homes – this was not true. People just died.
Tens of thousands of people died – because the Government had no plan. The quality of people in Government was poor. There were many good people in the Civil Service but the leaders were very bad.
PM Boris ignored the advice and delayed and delayed the lockdowns – especially in September when there was a huge increase in cases.
The UK Government had no sensible plans for emergency situations like Covid. There is a committee which is supposed to have all the plans for emergencies but they did not have the information when it was needed.
There was no proper control over ordering PPE and other equipment and it took far too long.
Cummings says the Government was hopeless.
He says Boris was not fit to be prime minister.
Dominic Cummings apologised to all the families who have lost their loved ones.
