Impact on daily life

11th May 2020

Prime Minister wants people to go back to work on Monday, if their job (like building or factory work) can’t be done at home.  He says not to use public transport.  Employers say there is not enough time to prepare the workplace and to tell workers if they can come back to work.
Primary schools may be able to open from June 1st starting with Reception children and year 6 children.  Secondary schools not to open until September although year 10 and year 12 may be able to go to school before then.  Education people say this is still confusing.
Hotels-Restaurants may be able to open in July if all goes well.  But we are not sure if pubs and restaurants can make a profit if everyone has to be 2 metres apart.
People can drive to parks and open spaces now for exercise.  Allowed to meet one other person there, but have to be 2 metres apart. Problem is that many people think that the lockdown is over and so on the weekend they have been in parks and going to the markets.  Many photos show that they are not keeping the distance apart.  This weekend, police are more supporting the public and not giving fines so much and not telling them to go home and not taking away their beer!
