Impact on daily life

Wales may need another lockdown.
Yes, they just had one but then they allowed to people to go back to meeting together and so there is a new surge in cases.  The Welsh government is thinking of having another full lockdown as the situation in hospitals is very bad.
Television news showed hundreds of people dancing around, close together at a Christmas market in Nottingham.  People say the market was full of people.  So the market was closed down by the police.  People in Sheffield are worried about the Christmas market there – they are also in Tier 3.  The organisers of the market announced they had over 2,500 people when they opened.
Northern Ireland farmers and food shoppers are now worried because it doesn’t matter if there is a Brexit deal or not, there will still have to be border checks on all food going from the UK to Northern Ireland.  The bad news is that the checks will start on 1st January.  The companies say they are not ready for this and the Government has not been clear that these checks were needed (Boris denied there would be any checks).  Supermarkets that supply food to Northern Ireland think there will be a reduction in food being sent there.
Possibly more than a million people in the UK struggle to pay for food for their families.  Most say that the Government does not care.  This is from a national survey by the Centre for Social Justice.  It is obvious that more people are using food banks.  It is not good that a rich country like UK has so many poor families.
