Impact on daily life

Impact. 24th November
More changes after lockdown finishes on 2nd December.  What we know so far …..

Tier 1 medium risk level:  Rule of 6 if meeting outdoors
Pubs and restaurants open until 11pm but last orders at 10.  Some spectators (maximum 4,000) allowed at sports and live performances.  Hairdressers can be open.  Gyms and leisure centres can open;  organised grassroots sports can start up again.
Tier 2 high risk:  no household mixing indoors;  rule of 6 is outdoors.  Pubs and restaurants closed by 11pm.  Alcohol only if it is with a meal. Spectators (maximum 2,000) allowed at sports and events;  indoors maximum is 50% of capacity up to 1,000 people;   organised grassroots sports can start up again; Hairdressing open Gyms and leisure centres can open.
Tier 3 very high risk: No mixing of households indoors or outdoors or in people’s gardens;  Rule of 6 applies in parks.  Pubs and restaurants only for takeaway or for delivery.  Indoor venues closed.  Travel limited going into or out of the area; hairdressing allowed. Gyms and leisure centres can open. organised grassroots sports can start up again.
This still seems complicated and people will not know until the Government decides which area is in which tier.  And the arrangements are different in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.  Labour Party says this is all risky as the previous tier systems did not work.
UK Government says the test and trace system will have an extra £7 billion of funding.  This is to help the mass testing programme.  It is not clear how this will make the test and trace work any better than before.
