Impact on daily life

Impact. 22nd September
The news is very gloomy as there are more than 4 thousand new virus cases in the last 24 hours.  The Government has a scale of 1 to 5 – with 5 being the complete catastrophe and the health service cannot cope.  Now we have moved to level 4 which says:
“Level four – a high or rising level of transmission – enforced social distancing.”
This would mean close to a lockdown but the Government does not want this and wants to keep schools open.  Boris will make a special TV broadcast on Tuesday to explain what is planned.  It is likely that people will be told to work from home again.
Bus drivers in Northern Ireland have raised concerns that kids on school buses are not distanced and some don’t wear masks.  In many cases the buses are full and they go to different schools making the mixing of children much worse.  The driver usually has a screen but the children are on the bus for up to 30 minutes with little protection.
Racism is the violence against people who are different from you.  It can be actual physical violence or it can be saying things which are against people from another ethnic groups.  It can also be ignoring people who are different and not giving them jobs or promotion.  Black Lives Matter says this racism is very deep in our society.  A survey of school children says that one third have heard racist remarks and they have experienced racism by the age of 13.
