Covid Inquiry for 2022 – to find out what went wrong
PM Boris has agreed to have a committee to examine what happened in the pandemic in the UK. Why did so many people die and why were there so many lockdowns? The Government say they want to learn the lessons so that it will not happen again.
In Bolton the Indian covid is spreading quickly
Pubs and cafes are going to open up next week. In Bolton people are worried because they have the Indian version of Covid and it is spreading. Cafes are worried that they might have to close down again to stop the spread.
Heathrow makes plans to divert flights from Monday
The Government wants people to travel from 17th May. Heathrow will not cope if there is a surge. The queues are already 6 hours long. Heathrow says the Border Force have to speed up Covid checks. If the queues are getting long, then Heathrow may send planes to other airports.
The stratosphere is shrinking – what does it mean?
Scientists are shocked as the stratosphere is getting smaller. This is the area of the atmosphere around the Earth. It is between 20 and 60 kilometres above the Earth. They say carbon dioxide that humans are producing, makes the protection around the Earth thinner. This is part of the climate change -. It affects the weather. It also makes problems for the satellites (TV, communications and GPS which we use on our smartphones).
