Impact on daily life

UK 17th February
Covid update

An extra 1.7 million people have to shield at home.  That makes 4 million altogether.  Half do not have the vaccine but  their local GPs will contact them.  They have to shield because of deprivation (by postcode), ethnic group and weight.  There were over 10 thousand new cases on Tuesday.  There are 21 thousand people in hospital.  Be careful, even if you had the virus in 2020.  Why?  Because we know that people can catch the virus twice.
Nearly 4,000 Amazon workers got the wrong test result.
Amazon said they were negative for the virus, then contact tracers phoned people and said they were positive.  They told those people they had to stay at home.    Next day, they had to call everyone again to say it’s OK.  You do not have the virus.  Panic over.
On 22nd February, in Scotland, primary children up to age 8 years can go back to school.  Nearly everyone else will stay at home.  Nicola Sturgeon said it was unlikely that any other pupils would return to school before 15 March.
A good deal for the two ISSA brothers from Blackburn.  They just bought all the ASDA stores.  The stores are worth £6.8 billion but they only paid £780 million.  How come?  They borrowed all the rest of the money.  Small problem is that the ASDA shops will need to pay back the loan.
