Impact on daily life

England alert level is going up to level 5, which means the same lockdown as in March 2020.  Boris announced Monday night.  Nicola Sturgeon already said the same for Scotland earlier on Monday.  There are lockdowns in Wales and Northern Ireland.
After Brexit, some companies in the EU are now stopping selling products to the UK.  This is because the UK now wants each company to pay VAT upfront and to complete a lot of paperwork.  The companies say that UK is the only country where this happens and it is not acceptable.  The UK says they want to have the same VAT arrangements with the EU as they have with other countries.
Important year for deaf people.  It is a UK census.  In March you have to fill in details about yourself and your family.  One key question is about your language.  Last time very few people chose BSL.  We hope this time more people will be proud to put in BSL as their main language.  There will be more details on Deafstation in the coming weeks.
