Impact on daily life

Impact. 13th October
The new rules for England to prevent the spread of the virus are:
Every area of England will be medium, high or very high alert – They call them tiers one, two and three.

Areas with the lowest rates of infection will be Tier One. Their rules are

  • Pubs, bars and restaurants have to close at 22:00 BST
  • The rule of six applies both indoors and outdoors

Areas in Tier Two has extra level of restrictions:

  • No mixing between different households indoors
  • The rule of six only continues outdoors

Most areas of England which have local restrictions are in Tier Two.  This applies to most of the North West and North East of England and some places near Birmingham.

Tier Three – this where the virus is spreading faster.

Liverpool area has the restrictions from Wednesday 14 October:

  • Pubs and bars are closed, except where serving main meals
  • Households cannot mix indoors or outdoors
  • Gyms, leisure centres, betting shops and casinos will also close
  • Shops, schools and universities stay open
  •

The trouble is that the experts do not think Tier 3 is going to be strict enough and will not stop the virus.
