Impact. 14th October
UK has 143 new deaths on Tuesday and total is now over 43,000. But there are many more which are related to the virus.
Very strict new rules in Northern Ireland. Schools have to close for two weeks from Monday. Restaurants can only provide take-away food or home delivery for the next four weeks. Off licence and supermarkets cannot sell alcohol after 8pm. No indoor sport or any contact sport. No hairdressers allowed and not in people’s homes. Churches open but they have to wear masks.
Government has not told older people and those with additional problems to go back to shielding – that is they do not have to stay at home and out of contact with people. This is odd since the virus numbers are increasing. The Government says that the rule of 6 and people wearing face masks, is good enough for the moment. The advice to older people is linked into the three tier system which was announced yesterday. This just creates more uncertainty for older people.
