Border staff say it is not our fault for the long queues

There are many reports of long delays to go through customs and Heathrow.  The Airport chief blames the Border staff.  Everyone agrees there are not enough staff.  Now one Border official says, they cannot cope if there is more travel allowed.  They say the Government has changed their job.  The official says they have 95% of time on quarantine and only 5% left for their regular jobs.  Before Covid it was 30 seconds to check each person coming into the country.  Now with Covid it takes 15 minutes.  They have to check if people have a certificate for their test; then find out where they go to self isolate.  If they come from a red list country they have to be taken to a hotel.  They find that many people have false documents.  The workload is too much.
Where does your plastic go?
Lots of people now separate their plastic bottles and packages from the other rubbish.  It is collected for re-cycling.  So where does it go?  At least half of the plastic is sent to other countries.  China has banned UK rubbish and plastic.   Now the rubbish goes to Turkey.  It is supposed to be recycled.  But … Greenpeace investigated.   A lot is dumped and burned or even left in big piles and it leaks into rivers.  The waste they discovered was from Tesco, Aldi, Co-op Sainsbury’s, Marks and Spencers.  They found covid tests and packets with sell by dates in August 2021.  Many countries dump waste in Turkey.  Turkey re-cycles 12%.
House prices are going up
The average price for a house is now £333 thousand.  The average in London is £640 thousand .  Good news for people who have their own house, bad news for people who are saving up to buy.
