Impact on daily life

Impact 29th July
There are some local outbreaks of the virus in UK.  In a campsite in Shropshire and in a factory in Bristol.  Bigger concern is in Oldham in the north of England where the town may need to go back to lockdown.  It looks as if the virus can spread very quickly if people are living in the same area.
The National Food Strategy (Government review committee) says that one of the effects of the virus will be that ordinary people will be poorer – they lose their jobs. This will create problem for parents to feed their children properly.  The Review says more children should have free school meals.  This would be nearly 3 million children.  They say that 99% of packed lunches which children bring to school are not healthy.  If the children have proper meals at lunchtime, their school work would be better and they would be more healthy.
Do you know about “zombie” companies?  As the virus continues, there are many companies which are just continuing because of Government grants and furlough.  But they are not paying off their debts and not making any profit.  Worry is that when the Government stops paying for them, they will just collapse and more jobs will go.
Are you paying too much for your broadband internet?  OfCom has investigated and they say that when people are out of their contract, they are often paying too much for broadband.  The companies have agreed to offer better deals in future.
