Impact on daily life

Impact 4th June
Figures for UK virus deaths now nearly 40 thousand but the figure for all additional deaths is over 60 thousand.  Scotland has more deaths in care homes than in hospital.
From 8th June, people who go abroad or who come from abroad have to fill in a form saying where they are staying.  It tells them they must be in self isolation for 14 days.  This applies to British people going on holidays and to Europeans who actually live here but who went back to their own country to help relatives.  Ryanair says the plan is useless because people come off a plane then travel through the airport, get on a bus or train and travel across the country to where they live… before they are in isolation.  Also British people will probably ignore the whole thing as not very likely to get caught.
Schools in Wales are to open on 29th June.
In Parliament,  Boris says the test and trace system is up and running. He claims thousands of people are now following our guidance.  Labour, Keith Starmer says it is not actually working – Local Councils say it will be weeks before it is running properly.
A contact tracer says she has been paid to work for 38 hours and has spent the time watching Netflix.  She has not made a single call to anyone at all.
