Impact on daily life

Impact 26th June
More trouble in the streets.  Police were attacked by people in London when they tried to stop an illegal street party.  This was the second night when this happened.  There is a lot of frustration built up from lockdown; it is hot and there is a lot of alcohol.
The Government may have to close off the beaches if this overcrowding continues.  All the science and health experts warn about the second wave which will come from the close contact in the crowds.
There will be new walk-in centres for testing for the virus.  This because many people do not have cars and there has been a lot of pressure to make it easier to get a test.  Not clear yet how far people will have to walk to reach the walk-in centre, They are also thinking of having new special post boxes so that virus tests can be posted back much quicker.
There is a new research study that suggests the virus may affect the brain, several patients had strokes after the virus.
Deafstation will investigate and report in the next week.  There are many small steps research reported.
No Glastonbury for them (see photo).  Glastonbury festival which should have begun yesterday was cancelled for this year.  Although it is mostly a musical event, it has attracted many deaf and hard of hearing people.  There is an established deaf zone and many performances are interpreted in sign language….. or will be …next time.
