Boris now admits that the testing system is not working.  It looks like they cannot control the virus.  Virus numbers for yesterday were 4,000 new cases.   It is true that this is not helped by people not following the guidelines but the Government system just cannot test the numbers of people who need to find out if they have the virus.  The situation will not improve over the next few weeks.  Some reports say it will get much worse because the cold and flu season will complicate things in November and December.  Boris says that if there has to be another national lockdown it would be very, very serious for the country.  Telling people to go back to work and opening schools may not be a very good idea.
There has been a big drop (25%) in the number of cases of child abuse during lockdown which have been reported to the police.  This does not mean there is less child abuse, in fact it may mean more.  It is just that people are being kept indoors and the abuse may be hidden.  When children go to school, the teacher can often spot that there is abuse.  When there is no school, the possibility is that physical abuse is not seen at all.  Police believe that there will be a lot of complaints after the virus problems are over but the damage may have been done.
Deaf people are planning a march from Cardiff to London to complain about the lack of BSL interpreters.  This has been a huge problem during the virus because deaf people are left out without Government and health information.  The march may take 2 weeks.  We will have more information on this soon.
