More job losses – this time at British Gas

The company changed the contracts – more hours and less pay.  500 engineers refused to agree.  They lost their jobs.
All care home staff must have vaccine
Government wants to give vaccine to all care home staff.   They want to protect residents.  At the moment in many areas only 70% of staff have the jab.   Government is asking for views before they force them to take the vaccine.
Virus testing now in Barnet and Southwark in London
They discovered the South African version in South London.  NHS started to test everyone.  Now it has spread.  The testing for everyone is in Barnet and Southwark as well.
Court says Uber must give jobs back to five British drivers
Some drivers have worked for Uber for many years. Information in Uber’s technology centre said the drivers were involved in fraud.  Uber sacked them.   The information was wrong.  The court said Uber must pay money to the drivers.  Uber will pay more every day if they do not give the jobs back
Double increase in sales of drinks in pubs.
Monday 12th April, 40% of all pubs and restaurants opened.  They sold more drinks than before the pandemic. It was like Christmas time.   Some pub gardens were covered with snow!  On the same day last year, it was sunny and warm.  Pubs did not sell as many dinners. On 17th May pubs can open inside as well.  That will increase profits.
