Impact on daily life

Impact 30th June
Government says all schools in England to be open by September.  Parents are threatened that they will be fined if children do not turn up.  Head teachers say this is the wrong message.  Class sizes to be increased to 30 children (from 15 at the moment) and year groups are to be kept separate.  There are to be staggered arrival times and lunch breaks to keep the children apart.
Rave on!  Major outbreak of illegal raves all over the country.  Young people want the lockdown to be over and so are going out in thousands to parks and streets and even under the motorway to party all night.  No possibility for distancing but why bother?… when they see all the people at the beach and in protest marches.  The Government advice is weak and confusing.  Police have difficulty in controlling and there are dangers in the crowds.  There is also a huge clean up afterwards which local people have to do (see photo).
Oh no!…whisky is changing.  Because the climate is getting warmer in Scotland, some of the freshwater streams are drying up and local distilleries are having to close.  One distillery has switched from using wheat to using garden peas.  This does make good whisky and what is left behind can be used as fertiliser.  The distilleries are more energy efficient … and they say definitely … the taste will still be as good as before
