Impact on daily life

Impact. 9th December
For 2021, Scotland has cancelled their higher exams – (like A-levels).  They also cancelled their lower exams (like GCSE).  This because of the pupils and teachers have been off school and the pupils have not been able to learn.  The same is happening in Wales.   The teachers will give out grades for each pupil.  They will judge the level of the pupil from their work in class.  England still wants to have the exams.  The change in England is the exams will take place three weeks later in the year to give more time to prepare.
London is in Tier 2.  But London could be going into Tier 3.   The number of virus cases is increasing.  Some parts of London have more cases than in Tier 3 areas.  The Mayor says people need to follow the rules and stay safe.
There is another vaccine coming – developed in Oxford.  This is much cheaper and easier to move around.  It will give protection against the virus in a different way.  The Government hopes it will be approved before Christmas.
“Christmas is coming, and we are all getting fat ….”  Yes there have been record sales of food.  So many people working from home because of lockdown.  People are buying more food.  The supermarkets are making big profits.  In November, over 6 million families bought food online.  Some people think December will be even more food buying because people will be at home and they want to celebrate.  Other people say the opposite –  families cannot be together, Christmas dinner will be much smaller.  They only need small turkeys and less stuffing only a few roast potatoes.
