Health advisers say we must have another lockdown immediately.  If not, thousands of people will be at risk.
There is a plan to allow the trucks to pass between UK and France but it may not get started until Wednesday.  Truck drivers have been sleeping in their lorries for 2 nights already.  They are worried that they cannot get home for Christmas Eve – their big celebration.  Fish from Scotland is stuck in the ports and will not be fresh if the blockage continues.
You will know about the winter solstice?  December 21^st is the shortest day of the year and the official start of the winter.  The sun is very low in the sky.  It is the opposite in Australia and South Africa – there, it is the longest day of the year.  How come?  The earth is tilted and when it spins, it leans over and so the sun’s light hits the earth in different ways and at different times of the year.  Why are we talking about this?  Stonehenge in Wiltshire is an ancient monument of standing stones.  Druids believe that there were big celebrations at the solstice time … that started 3,500 years ago when Stonehenge was built. Unfortunately, this year because of Covid, the modern-day Druids could not have a celebration by the stones.  English Heritage which manages the stones set up a live stream on Youtube, so people could celebrate peacefully and safely.  Millions of people from all over the world visit Stonehenge every year, when we don’t have covid.
