Covid update – better news
Virus cases are reducing.  Less people in hospital.   Vaccine numbers are increasing but not all health care staff take the vaccine.  Leicester hospitals say 73% of white staff accept the vaccine; but only 57% of black and South Asian staff, workers under 30 years, and those who live in deprived areas.  It is a worry if hospital staff do not take the vaccine.
About the Census. Very soon postcards will arrive in all houses in England and Wales.  Then there will be a letter with a special code.  This code is so that you can go online and fill in the census.  You can ask for a paper form if you do not want to use the Internet.  If you do not fill in the census, staff will come to your house to explain that you have to complete the form.  If you refuse to fill in the census, you can get a £1,000 fine.  There will be videos in different languages to encourage people.  Watch out for more from deafstation soon.
CT Scans can detect up to 70% of lung cancer in the early stages.   Experts want scanning of smokers and ex-smokers – this will reduce the large number of lung cancer deaths (100 per day, in UK)
Mayor of Bristol has invited the Russian leader Navalny to visit Bristol once he is free. Martin Rees has never visited Moscow but has a close relationship with Navalny. They became friends at Yale University in USA. They were neighbours with their wives and kids. It is a special bond.
Boris wants schools in England to re-open on 8th March.  But there was no news when the lockdown will be over. Announcement maybe next week.
