Wales is now banning all visitors from other parts of the UK where there is a big increase in virus cases.  The first minister in Wales says he wrote to Boris to ask for this progress but he had no answer from Boris.  So Wales has taken its own action.  It is not clear if that means there will be Border guards
Just before the restrictions began in Liverpool people went out on the streets, dancing around, drinking and not wearing mask and with no distancing.  They were not worried about the virus and its effect, even though it was obvious.  The authorities were shocked by the behaviour.  The mayor says he was ashamed of them.  Other people said it was because they had no trust in the Government.  They say the Government is confused, gives out confusing instruction and does not listen to what the experts have said they should do … weeks ago.  The doctors in intensive care said they were disgusted by how people had behaved
Labour party is trying to pressure the Government to have a lockdown over the school half term to try to stop the virus.  They believe and so do the experts, that there is real possibility for the virus to get out of control altogether.  Boris and the Government do not want to do this but they have said they may have more restrictions.  The experts say this will be too late.
Research on ‘long Covid” suggests that there could be more than one set of problems.  Some people just have serious tiredness and others have damage to the lungs or heart.  Other people who had mild symptoms just continue to have those over a long period of time.  It is urgent to have more research.
