Impact on daily life

Impact 21st May 2020
Wonky weather?  Yesterday was the hottest day in the year.  People went to the seaside (see photos).  But that caused gridlock as too many cars went to beaches in Devon.  Some say it was like August.  Hundreds of people on the sand.  In Skegness, there was a 40-minute queue for the toilet… because most public toilets are still closed due to the virus.  Very hard to keep to distance.
More local councils (35) are unwilling to open schools on 1st June.  They say many schools are not ready and teachers and parents are concerned.  The Teachers’ Union is not convinced by what the Government is saying, that “opening is safe.”
Members of family of NHS workers who have died from the virus, will be able to stay permanently in the UK.  That will include cleaners, porters and others in low-paid jobs.  People were worried that they would be sent away.  This probably includes families of care home staff.
Rolls Royce will cut many thousands of jobs in the UK because of the damage to the air industry by the virus.
