Impact on daily life

Impact. 20th November
Scotland may be closing its borders to prevent the virus spreading.
New regulations which start on Friday say that it will be illegal to enter or leave Scotland without a reasonable excuse.  That includes England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.  The shops have been very busy for the last few days because the lockdown only starts on Friday.
Mystery in Bristol because the virus cases have suddenly surged.  Since March, Bristol has had very few cases compared to the rest of the country but that has suddenly changed.  One district in the south of the city has over 1,300 cases per 100 thousand population.  It is not a poor area and is not near the Universities (which had many cases).  It is affecting the older population much more but the reasons for the sudden surge are a mystery.
Marks and Spencer will keep 400 stores open until midnight in the week before Christmas. They think there will be a lot of last-minute shopping.  Reports from most other big stores are very gloomy as they say fewer people were shopping and now there is a lockdown.  Maybe there will be a big rush after lockdown finishes on 3rd December … maybe.  They say there will also be a big rush on Black Friday (27th November) but take care because there are a lot of scams out there.
There NHS is setting up 42 places where they can have mass vaccinations.  The NHS will need ten thousand extra staff for when the vaccines are available.  In the meantime, we need to decide on the proper BSL sign for “vaccine” and “vaccinate”.  Any ideas?
