Storm named Christoph – flood warnings
There are 60 flood warnings now. People have been asked to leave their homes, roads closed and rail services suspended. People living on houseboats have moved out from Norwich and Cheshire. The worst parts of England are Northern, Central and Eastern areas. Boris held an emergency meeting to discuss if England is ready for flooding.
Front line workers to get jabs soon
Government is working hard to make sure that police and other front line workers are moved up the priority list for Covid vaccines and the most vulnerable must also get the vaccine.
Covid deaths and new cases update
Yesterday 1,820 deaths – the highest ever daily number in the pandemic. Also there were 38.905 new cases. Boris says there will be more deaths to come.
Closed borders?
Priti Patel, Home Secretary says UK should have closed the UK borders in March 2020 due to Covid pandemic She was strongly supporting closure 10 months ago. But UK did not put a ban or quarantine restrictions on international travellers arriving in UK until June 2020
