Impact on daily life

Impact 9th November
You might expect that couples living together in lockdown would get on one another’s nerves and this would lead to more divorces.  Probably not, it seems like relationships are getting stronger and many couples are living together better.
In hospitals when a patient was in intensive care for the virus, NHS England said a nurse was only to look after one patient, to avoid spreading the virus.  Now they say a nurse can look after 2 patients.  There are too many patients (over 11 thousand) and not enough nurses – the situation is getting worse.
People do not want to travel on the bus or train.  They prefer the car.  This is due to the virus warnings that the Government has been giving.  Before the virus, UK was trying to reduce people in cars to stop pollution and traffic jams … now more people want to travel in their own cars because it is safer.  Bad news for the environment.
Also bad news for business because of lockdown.  It should be a boom time for buying and preparing for Christmas but the shops are closed.  Although you can buy online, it is not the same.  Expect more job losses.
Health experts say that the lockdown will be wasted unless the Government can fix the test and trace system.  They want the Government to scrap the national system and to give the responsibility to local health.  There has been a huge waste of money by giving the testing system to people outside the NHS.  It just does not work.
