Impact on daily life

Government refuses petition to have BSL interpreter present at daily briefings.  Read the letter from Government after petition to provide interpreter at daily briefing.  They say there is no space in the room in 10 Downing Street and it would be a health risk to have an interpreter and extra camera person.  So interpreters have to appear in an “egg” because they are not in the same building.  Other countries manage to have the interpreter present.  It is crazy because they do not have to have the briefings in that room and don’t need to be in Downing Street at all.
“Pick for Britain” – fancy helping out on a farm and getting some fresh air?  Government department launches new website pickforbritain.org  .. People are supposed to apply for jobs on local farms and farmers are supposed to advertise there.  They need 60 thousand people. Usually they come from EU countries but are not going to come this year because of the virus and because of Brexit.  There don’t seem to be any fruit picking jobs on the web site so far.
According to Google which can track people’s movement through their mobile phones, lots of people were breaking the lockdown in parks well before they were allowed to.  In fact it seems that many people do not think they have to have 2 metre distance when walking or sitting in parks.
Looks like a lot of people will be going camping for holidays in Britain as no foreign travel.  Bookings for camping going up.  But campsites not sure what they have to do about toilets, showers.
