MPs are trying to take more control over decisions about lockdowns.  They say that Government has been deciding too much on its own without discussion.  The lockdowns are affecting people’s lives and so they should have to discuss everything in parliament first.  Experts are saying that parliament is too slow and the virus moves much faster than the MPs..
President of EU Council is warning UK that after Brexit they could be getting low quality food if they do not accept the EU standards.   A campaign with famous celebrities and the RSPCA want the UK to keep to the high standards of the EU – no chicken in chorine and no beef that have fed with hormones.
Looks like universities will have to give refunds to students whose courses are badly affected by the virus and where the students are forced to stay in accommodation.  There are some legal cases coming from student groups.  They argue that the Government and the universities were warned about what was going to happen and they had the whole summer to plan for this to make sure the virus did not affect them to this extent.  They failed and now there are thousands of students kept in their rooms within a week of arriving at university.
The Manchester mayor wants the Government to review the pub closure at 10pm.  He says people are just meeting up after that and taking alcohol home or meeting in other places.  Closing pubs and restaurants does not help at all.
