Impact on daily life

Impact 30th November
MPs in Parliament will vote on Tuesday to decide if they accept the three tiers.
There is a lot of anger around as some areas have lower numbers of cases but have still ended up in Tier 3, because another nearby area has a high rate.  Government ministers have been appearing on TV warning everyone that the hospitals will be swamped and there could be a third wave.  Many MPs do not believe this.
The Government promised that new teachers would have a pay rise to £30,000 by September 2022.  Now they have decided to have a pay freeze, so no pay rise at the moment.
Get rich quick with the pandemic.  One man in a small company in Gloucestershire managed to get contracts to supply gowns and masks.  The contracts were for £276 million.  There was no competition. He used to be a Conservative councillor.  He says he supplied a large amount of PPE.  The profits were good – he bought a big house for £1.2 million and paid himself £500 thousand.  He also bought a holiday home in Cornwall for £250 thousand and another home for his parents.  Looks like some people are doing well out of the pandemic while others are in lockdown, heading to food banks and getting ill.
More worries about special needs kids … who are not in school.   Chief Inspector of Schools in England says they are suffering badly as they cannot follow online lessons very well or do homework.  The support like personal assistants etc – have stopped when they are not in school.  They are going backwards in their education.
