You have to wear a mask in shops from 24th July.  Face masks are compulsory in Scotland already and in many countries in the world.  England has made this decision later than others.  On Sunday ministers were saying they did not think they needed masks but by Monday evening they decided that people had to wear masks.  Boris says it is to protect other people and to protect yourself.  Countries which forced masks earlier have lower rates of virus.
They have now compared the death rates in the hospitals across England and find that there is a big range from just 12% to 85%.  This might be linked to age of the patients or if they were BAME but they also say that some hospitals are better at treating the virus.  It means hospitals need to work together and share all the details of how they treat the virus patients.
Upsetting report says that young people with special educational needs have been committing suicide during the lockdown.  This has affected autistic kids and those with behaviour difficulties.  There were 5 cases in Kent but the numbers are higher over the country.  They think that it is because of messing up the school routine and losing contact with other people.  No special support for them.
One pub in Cornwall has put an electric fence around the bar so that customers keep their distance.  Not sure if it was switched on?  The landlord says ‘try it and see’.
