Impact on daily life

Impact 15th June
Boris says he has plans for a “massive catch-up operation” for school children who have missed out on their schooling.  But the Children’s Commissioner for England says there is no evidence of any action on this. She says there is a risk that the damage to education will continue into next year if there is not a plan to increase the number of teachers or to change the schools and classrooms.  Some schools are worried that children might have to go to school every two weeks from September so that the schools can cope with smaller classes.
There are worries that screening for cancer has slowed down and stopped.  Especially bowel cancer – the testing programme was suspended.  This is the second big cause of death after lung cancer.  Doctors say if you catch the problem early it can be cured, but if discovered late it is very serious.
No mask required if you are travelling with deaf person.
So where do people have to wear a mask?  From today, mask on public transport (bus, train, ferry or plane), going to hospital as a patient or a visitor.  Wear a mask on Uber taxis.  Remove the mask to eat or drink. and children under 11 years don’t have to wear a mask.  Rules are not so strict in Scotland, Wales and Norther Ireland.
Gone fishing?  One unexpected change has been that more people have gone fishing.  Over 330 thousand one-day licences have been given out since May 14th; this is over 200 thousand more than expected.  Does this mean there are lots more fish caught?  No evidence so far!
