Impact on daily life

Impact 23rd September
The new rules for England probably for the next six months:

  • Pubs, bars and restaurants close at 10 pm
  • Table service only
  • People work from home where they can
  • Face masks compulsory for bar staff and standing or walking about customers, shop workers and waiters
  • Only 15 guests at weddings
  • No fans at sporting events
  • “Rule of six” now for indoor team sports

Fines for not wearing masks or following rules is £200 for first offenc
Businesses (restaurants etc) have to take customers details.  Not allowed to take large bookings.  Big fines.
In Scotland, similar but no meetings in other people’s houses.  There may have to be a 2 week lockdown in October to try to stop the virus.  Don’t book foreign trips in October.
In Wales, similar but you can’t buy alcohol after 10pm in off licence or supermarkets.
In Northern Ireland, similar but also you can’t meet anyone inside your home, who does not live there.
There is concern about the 2,700 care homes in England,  as many have been told to stop visitors coming in.  This affects the mental and physical health of elderly people.
