Impact on daily life

Impact 27th May
The shops are due to open on 15th June.  John Lewis is one big store which says it plans to limit the number of people going into the store.  Not clear how they will limit people who all want to buy a tie for their Dads – clustered around that department.  Other people do not think people will go to the shops from 15th June – too risky.
Some shops are annoyed as they thought they were opening on June 1st.  They can’t understand why car showrooms can open but not big stores.
What is the contact tracing system?  High technology?  No.  Call handler works from home, has details of a person with the virus, phones them up and asks who they have been in contact with (if they remember or know), then calls those people and tells them they may be infected, suggest they (and all their family) should stay at home for 14 days.  Then calls back a few days later to find out if they are OK.  If not, then asks them who they have contacted etc etc.   Not sure this works very well for deaf people. Local Councils are running out of money.  Funding for care services has increased so much that some say they will have no money very soon.  This will affect all services like libraries and even special needs.  They say the Government gave some funding but not nearly enough.  They are spending over £100 million extra each week.
