Conservatives win England, Labour win Wales and SNP win Scotland

In England, Conservative Party wins 13 local councils. They have extra 237 councillors.  In total, Conservatives now control 62 local councils.  Labour won 11 out of 13 mayors.
In Scotland, SNP won 64 seats; Conservatives won 31, Labour 22.   SNP want to have a referendum to decide about Scotland.  They want to have a separate country from England.  They want to re-join the EU.
In Wales, the Labour Party won 30 seats out of 60. Welsh Labour have controlled the Senedd (Welsh Parliament) since 1999.   
Increase in Indian version of Covid in UKThe number of Indian version of  Covid has more than doubled in a week in UK. There are 520 recorded cases and half of the cases are related to travel or contact with people who have travelled. Most of the cases are in the North West of England and in London. 
Nearly 36 million people have first dose vaccines and almost 17 million second dose vaccines. Airport bosses say some travellers have to queue for up to 8 hours. The government has promised to provide more Border force staff and put new electronic machines into the e-gates so that travellers can avoid manual checks.
Experts criticise the Government traffic light system for 17th May travel
UK Government announced a traffic light system for people to go to different countries.  They do not need to have quarantine.  Experts say this does not work.  There will be more cases.  They say that Government ignores the scientific facts.
