News 3rd December
Pfizer – BioNtech vaccine is approved in UK and will start to be used next week according to the Government.  Boris says this is great news.  Health staff and people in care homes will be first. Then they will reach out to older people over 80, then over 75 and so on.  The NHS will contact people when it is their turn.  The programme is going to be complex because the vaccine has to be stored at minus 70 degrees and this means it will be in hospitals first of all.
The owners of the Arcadia Group, the Green family, have agreed to hand over another £50 million this year in order to help the pension fund.  Arcadia owns Topshop and a lot of the familiar shops in the centre of towns in the UK.  The company is in administration – they are trying to find people to buy the business or parts of the business.  Many thousand jobs are at risk.  Because of Arcadia trouble, Debenhams is now set to close down – that is another 12,000 jobs.  Another store BonneMarche has the same problems and they are now in trouble .. that is another 1,200 jobs.  Looks like a disaster for town centres and for 25,000 people who work in these companies.
You believe this?  If you are planning to fly soon, be prepared for additional costs.  From February, Easyjet will charge people if they use the overhead lockers in the plane.  They say it will help the plane be on time more often .. So you can only have a small bag free …which you can push under the seat in front.  Customers are not very happy.
