Yes, we can travel abroad again.  Many countries said they would accept British holidaymakers and now Government gives a list of where we can go which are safe and we don’t have to stay at home for 2 weeks when we get back.  Where?  As well as obvious like France, Denmark, Finland , Netherlands and Germany, we can book holidays to the Antarctic, the Falkland Islands, Cayman Islands (?) and even the Turks and Caicos Islands (? – where is that?…. see the end of the news for the answer).  Not all countries have said they will accept UK people – and definitely, you have to quarantine when you get to New Zealand.  But then it is winter there.
New evidence to be published soon says that the virus is not just transmitted on droplets when people cough or sneeze.  They say it travels in the air.  This means that the 2 metre rule does not work as the virus is carried by the air and can reach other parts of a room.  The World Health Organisation sticks to the 2 metre idea but it will need to look at the evidence for the flying virus.
There will be a Government finance statement this week.  They say it will include more funding for trainees and for work placements so that more people (especially young people ) can get back into work
Aha!  Turks and Caicos Islands are in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Florida – near the West Indies ……. See you there!
