News 8th June 2020
Less than 100 deaths were reported in England on Sunday; none in Scotland and Northern Ireland.  There is hope that this is showing the virus is coming under control.  Health officials are not so sure.  Local councils in the North west of England say it is too early to open schools.  Health experts continue to say that the virus will be in the community for a long time.
As well as test and trace not working yet, the smartphone app is not ready.  A bigger problem is that the NHS is not prepared for a second wave of virus which can happen from all the people on the protest marches and from opening shops and schools.  Hospitals say that they have less capacity to treat people than in April.  Health experts say there should be proper planning for a second wave.
British Airways, Ryanair and Easyjet are suing the Government over the 14-day quarantine which starts on 8th June.  They believe no one will travel to the UK and people will not go away for holidays.  The boss of the Channel Tunnel also says this could create big disruption to supplies.
Holiday in Benidorm?  Many shops, bars and restaurants are owned by British people because so many people from UK go to Benidorm.  Nobody is travelling now – even the Irish Bar had to close.  There are a lot of gloomy faces as the tourists are not going to come back for the summer.
