Outrage as Belarus hijacks a Ryanair flight
Very many angry countries because of the hijacking of a commercial flight. The President of Belarus ordered the plane to land at Minsk. They sent a fighter jet to force it to land there. The passengers were terrified as they had no information and they thought the plane was going to crash. The boss of Ryanair claims that there were Belarus KGB agents on board. When the plane landed police came and arrested Mr Protasevich and his girlfriend. He is a journalist and he had a website which criticised the Government and told people about the riots in Belarus. Other passengers said he was terrified as he said they would kill him. The EU is meeting to decide how to respond. This is an international crime.
Spain welcomes UK tourists; UK tells them not to go.
It is a crazy situation as Spain is on the amber list of countries. UK Government says you should not travel there as you will need to have tests and quarantine when you come back to UK. Spain say they are happy to welcome British tourist – no test required.
Thousands of child migrants are in Ceuta, Spanish territory in North Africa
Last week over 8 thousand migrants managed to travel from Morocco into Ceuta – part of the EU. The went through the fence and many swam around the barriers in the sea. Police just grabbed 7,000 and sent them on buses back to Morocco. But many children hid in the town. The police are searching them out but they are not allowed just to send them back. But they do not know what to do with them. They are kept in temporary sheds. The conditions are not good and there is not enough space to sleep and the food is bad. Not a good situation. People are desperate to send their children to have a better life in the EU.
